Just Six Dots -- A Braille Reading Program (1 credit)

Presenter: Ricki Curry
Presentation of Just Six Dots, a Braille reading program in use for many years around Virginia and available to teachers through Duxbury files. Discussion of main components and advantages of the program along with question and answer period with teachers using Just Six Dots and those interested in finding out more about it.

CVI and How it Impacts Adults

The presentation will focus on how CVI impacts an adult with their daily life including how they may manage in their home, work and community. This is still a new area in CVI and much more research is needed to more fully understand how CVI impacts adults who acquire CVI, or who age out of the school system and now have to navigate life without school-based supports.

Dramatically Able: A Model for Creating Accessible Theatre Arts Experiences (1 Credit)

Drama is typically a visual art form. It is rich in opportunities for all ages.
Dramatic activities such as role-playing, storytelling, improvisation, and pantomime, exercise the imagination, build communication skills, and provide an opportunity to work cooperatively with others. This presentation will provide an overview of how theatre arts can be made accessible and fun for individuals with visual impairment.

Meet in Hotel Lobby
Presenter: Meg Walker
Participate in an O&M interactive session, walking from the hotel to the natural bridge formation. As teachable moments arrive, O&M methodology, AT, concepts and skills are discussed. Participants will also get a guided tour of one of the 7 natural wonders of the world from the Parks Service.
